How to adjust brightness on Toshiba laptop?

I have a Toshiba laptop, Windows XP installed version Retail, installed the necessary drivers like sound, video, etc. but when I run my laptop without battery pluggedin, I can not see a thing. The light is terrible. I tried to install energy saving Toshiba but it gives me a fatal error and now I same side to remove it, anyway thats not the problem. The problem is to adjust the brightness. I also tried FN + F7 but nothing.

hmm well I can know this might not help, but on the monitor ut ur laptop there may be buttons, look for one that resembles adjust the color of my friend not know how but ya send me an email if a problem dzach13@yahoo.com and if that dosent work go into the start bar and try to find if u have vista like me then type something like adjusting the colors or something like that.
