97 Jeep Cherokee wont start, battery good, good belt, no bad history, HELP?

110.000 miles 07 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L 6cyl work TO electricity, will not start car but he tries, if i step on the gas it kind of starts for a second, but dies as soon as I let off the gas … Is this a bad start? I had this problem too, and so far to clarify the things I have to clean the distributor caps. when they get a lot of corrosion on them, they do not work as good as they are supposed to, to clean them, or get a new distributor cap and try it then.
