1996 225 Mercury Outboard No spark?
OK, so I let the boat sit for too long … currently working to restart … The two deep cell marine batteries died, will not load … using a loader, tried to start the engine … The motor rotates, but no love. With the help of a friend, check spark plugs and no spark … Checked kill-switch and was depressed by the foo, all good … But he asked me if this switch may be killing sparks checks and went south during the "rest period"? Also checked the fuse box electric broom (?) And it went well. Looking for suggestions of things I can check to see why plugs do not get juice. Thank you!
Your instinct is right that most kill switches interrupt the flow of electricity to candles. Are you sure there is no power to plugs? If this is the case of ignition coils for the caps may have been compromised, but each of them seems unlikely to be damaged. The first thing to check is to ensure that the circuit breaker is properly connected to the ignition wire that goes to the remote engine and the wiring is in good condition. Another option is that the alternator does not enough electricity for the engine to manage the power demands. This may also have something to do with your batteries are not able maintain a charge. The batteries themselves could be compromised and unable to provide the necessary ampere / voltage start. I consider replacing batteries and make sure they comply with manufacturers' recommendations for CCA.
