Lead Test the battery using acid hydrometer (available from auto parts dealers / garage) to show the specific gravity acid. metal dealer or battery recycling lead. They are worth much. There is such a demand (price = high) that people are flying on the roofs, etc. Lead is easy to recycle. Most other technologies are recycled by the car, see the Toyota site. The main types are NiMH and Li-ion. NiCadmium can cause problems for the environment if not recycled, but is not common in cars.
