Napa Batteries Truck

Truck will not start, engine turns over, but stops when it tries to recover?
My truck is a 98 Chevy 1500 w/350. When I turn the key, the starter turns, but every time it tries to turn the starter "Boggs", as he has not enough torque. This is a new battery, and it is rather cold outside. I am aware of the possibility of an engine before and we do believe that's not the case here. Other possibilities would be greatly appreciated! Btw, he did this when I started in Napa just before I parked, and it finally started and ran rough and felt like he wanted to die when I'm completely let off the gas. The battery that I had to it was the best chance that Napa has to offer too, I know that oil is bad, and I'll be replacing it as soon as possible. It was the top of the line oil and oil filter last time I changed it.
I lost an engine due to "lock hydro ", antifreeze filled a bottle and I think I jumped the battery was low and the connecting rod broke and the thing started and had a beautiful mess. Yours maybe it jumped time, check for a timing chain, unless you had running. If you purchased a good battery should be returned if it is below -20. Maybe your starter is going. Good luck
